Cavities form from acids produced by bacteria in plaque. We prefer to prevent them by educating patients as the best treatment is no treatment. The next best thing is early detection with our digital xrays and diagnodent laser cavity detector.

Many times we find cavities early in their formation. Then we can comfortably remove them without a drill by air abrasion. We then use a tooth colored filling that releases fluoride to prevent future cavities around it.

If the cavity had progressed further, then we would use composite filling. This material is very strong and very aesthetic. You can see examples of this composite in our PHOTO GALLERY page.

We are a mercury free dental practice and do not use any amalgam for our fillings. We believe that there are better materials available and if we wouldn’t put it in our own mouths, then we would definitely not use it in our patients.
