Dental Implants
in Boerne, TX

Missing teeth can impact your quality of life and make it difficult to eat and speak.

Dental implants paired with custom restorations can help restore your bite and give you a natural-looking smile.

Michael A. Hatcher in Boerne, TX, is proud to help patients achieve a beautifully restored smile with this advanced treatment.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are titanium posts that act as artificial tooth roots. Implants support a variety of restorations to help patients missing one tooth, multiple teeth, or all their natural teeth. Once the dental implant is surgically placed in the jaw, an abutment is attached to the implant. This allows your dentist to secure your dental crown, bridge, or denture directly to the implant.

Concerned About Costs? We offer financing options

Our Boerne dental practice is not contracted with any dental insurance providers. We feel this allows us to provide the highest level of care possible without insurance restrictions. However, we are happy to help you file the needed paperwork for direct reimbursement from your dental insurance. Though dental implants are not typically covered by insurance, restorations and related treatments often are.

To help patients make treatment more affordable, we accept CareCredit®. This allows patients to finance the cost of their dental implant treatment in affordable monthly payments. We also accept American Express, Cash, Check, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa.

Dental Implant Candidacy

While titanium implants are a fantastic option for missing teeth, not everyone initially qualifies for implant treatment. You may be a good candidate if you:

Are in good oral health

Patients must be free of tooth decay and gum disease before dental implant placement. This ensures a healthy foundation for your implant and restorations and minimizes your risk of implant failure. We offer comprehensive dental options to help you achieve optimal oral health to qualify.

Have sufficient jawbone

Patients must have sufficient jawbone material before dental implant placement. This ensures the implants have enough bone material to graft to. If you do not initially qualify for dental implants due to bone loss, our dentist offers bone grafting to build back jaw strength.

Do not use tobacco products

Tobacco use has been linked to an increased risk of dental implant failure and can increase your risk of other oral health issues. It is suggested that patients who smoke or use tobacco products quit before their implant placement to give them the best chance at success.

Dental Implant Treatment Timeline

Implants offer a range of benefits to patients suffering from tooth loss.
Implants offer a range of benefits to patients suffering from tooth loss.

Consultation

During your initial consultation at our dental practice in Boerne, TX, your dentist will examine your mouth and discuss your goals to determine if implants are right for you.

Impressions

Your dentist will then take impressions of your mouth. These impressions are sent to a lab where your restoration will be crafted.

Anesthesia

Before your implant procedure begins, your dentist will numb the area. For patients who need a higher level of comfort care, we offer sedation options to keep you comfortable during treatment.

Implant Placement

A small incision is made in the gums and the dental implant is inserted into the jaw.

Healing

Over the next three to six months, you will be given time to heal. During this time, the implant will fuse to the jawbone in a process called osseointegration.

Abutment Placement

Once you are healed, you will have a second procedure. Your dentist will attach an abutment to each dental implant.

Restoration Placement

After another short healing period, you will return to our Boerne dental practice. During this appointment, your dentist will attach your restoration to the abutments to secure them to your implant.

Maintaining Your New Smile

Because your restoration is secured to the implants, you will treat your restoration just like natural teeth. Be sure to brush twice a day for at least two minutes each time, and floss daily. Don't forget to attend regular dental appointments at our Boerne, TX, dental practice for exams and cleanings to keep your smile healthy for years to come.

With proper care and maintenance, your denture, bridge, or crown can last 15 years or more. Your implants themselves are designed to last a lifetime.
